:: Why can't we print more money? ::

Assalam Alaikum,

Whenever I teach the topic of money, my innocent 8 years-old pupils would ask me the origin of money. And so, I explained to them the process of money printing. And some smartie ones would ask why can't we print money on our own... That's such a common question but often left unanswered because we don't really know how to explain such complicated issue to a young child...

Now that I think about it, what they are actually asking is, "Why can't we be equal as those money printers? What make them so great that they control the economy?"

Insha'Allah! If I have a chance again to teach this topic, I would tell them about the existence of power in this world and how gold and silver are still reliable~

Something relevant to know in our daily life! =)

W'salam,
Khadijah C.

  1. never too young to start teaching 'em about money, the correct version of it of course.

most unfortunate that the knowledge of sound money is largely missing in today's society, even among the mainstream school of economics.

muslim communities should be able to appreciate the importance of the prohibition of riba in modern day economic transactions. a way to achieve this is to have a decent grasp of the knowledge of fractional reserve banking, which i sadly believe most do not have.

when one blends the federal reserve with peak oil and the military industrial complex, whatever borns out of such concoction is most certainly a path to human self-destrution.

Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) prophesied, in a hadith received from Abu Hurairah (r.a.), the following: “There will come a time, he said, when you will not be able to find a single person in the world who will not be consuming riba. And if anyone claims that he is not consuming riba then surely the dust of riba will reach him.”
    (Abu Daud, Mishkat)

There will come a time when you will not be able to find a single person in the world who will not be consuming riba. And if anyone claims that he is not consuming riba then surely the dust of riba will reach him.” (Abu-Dawood Hadith 3325 Narrated by Ibn Isa)

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: A time is certainly coming to mankind when only the receiver of usury will remain, and if he does not receive it, some of its vapour will reach him. Ibn Isa said: Some of its dust will reach him. (Book #22, Hadith #3325)

"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws" - Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value - ZERO." - Voltaire, 1729

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." - Thomas Jefferson

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear, and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But if you wish to remain the slaves of Bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits." - Sir Josiah Stamp, President of the Bank of England in the 1920's, the 2nd richest man in Britain.

  2. The value of money drops when more is printed, that is why it is better for the money printer to be in control of printing the money, so they won't be diluted in value. Take a glass of orange syrup and treat it as the value. Add water(money) to the syrup, and the drink is not as sweet anymore. Imagine everybody is adding water to the glass.
