  1. I am confused. Is there really a need for a separate mosque for women? This is the first I heard of a Women mosque.

  2. Assalam Alaikum!

I guess you are referring to the other post on the female masjid~

First, what is the definition of a masjid? Is it a place to go for 5 times a day salat? or to go for weekly friday prayer?

No, it goes beyond that~ Masjid is what the modern society called, "community centre", where everything that community needed are to be taken place...

From 5 times a day salat, weekly friday khubah to the frequent nikah ceremonies, to madrasahs for the learners...

Based on the condition of our masjids now and some mindset that women should not go masjid... There is a need... urgent need actually for places where females learn the deen~

Many times the women are denied their rights to seek knowledge because of the size of masjids, the mindset of people taking charge of masjids and the community...

And also, the men imam do not talk about female issues in khubah...

I'm a female and been through some challenges so I can talk about it~

It's only now with TV and satellite that we women can learn the deen in comfort of homes... I doubt hundred years back, they did not have this privilege~

However, having said that there is a need for a place for women to learn, I do not advocate that there is a need for a separate masjid for women...

If we can have a building big enough to house both male and female, then it should all be in a building...

This is nothing like what the feminist movement that women is competing with men to show "women power"...

Maybe it would be better to be called "female muslim community centre"?

    Allahu Alam~
