:: Can non-Muslim touch the Qur'an ::

Assalam Alaikum,

There are misconceptions that the Qur'an should not be held by non-Muslim... Because of this verse...

That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable,
In Book well-guarded,
Which none shall touch but those who are clean:
( سورة الواقعة , Al-Waqia, Chapter #56, Verse #77-79)

I came upon an explanation from Dr. Zakir Naik in his speech, explaining the issue~ He was explaining the meaning of the word 'touch' and 'clean' in this context...

He said that 'touch' does not mean physical touch, it means no one can understand the Qu'ran except those who are 'clean'. This cleanliness does not mean body cleanliness but cleanliness of the heart, soul and mind. And he continued saying that Qur'an can and should be given to non-Muslim so that the truth could be delivered to him/her~
