:: Predestination ::

Assalam Alaikum,

Just learnt 2 new words.. Qada and Qadar! =D

Taken from http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp?ID=4187
Qada (decree) is Allah's specifying how things will be, in pre-eternality, by His Will, in accordance with His Knowledge. Qadar (destiny) is Allah's bringing into being through His Power, that which His Will specified. [Sawi, Sharh al-Jawhara]

It is also one of the articles of Faith in Islam, which include...

1) Believe in Allah (SWT), one God
2) His Angels
3) His Holy Books
4) His Messengers
5) The Day of Resurrection
6) Al-qadar (Divine Preordainments)

Verily, We have created all things with qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation as written in the Book of Decrees Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).
( سورة القمر , Al-Qamar, Chapter #54, Verse #49)

No calamity befalls, but by the Leave [i.e. Decision and qadar (Divine Preordainments)] of Allah, and whosoever believes in Allah, He guides his heart [to the true Faith with certainty, i.e. what has befallen him was already written for him by Allah from the qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. And Allah is the All-Knower of everything.
(سورة التغابن, At-Taghabun, Chapter #64, Verse #11)
W'salam,
Khadijah C.
